Cyprus Corporate Tax in 2026: What Changed and Why Cyprus Still Works

Cyprus is no longer “the same 12.5%.”

From 1 January 2026, corporate income tax is 15% — the biggest shift in about two decades. But the headline rate is only part of the story.

What else changed:

  • Stamp duty — abolished
  • Dividends — 0% withholding tax (deemed dividend distribution abolished for post-2025 profits)
  • Crypto gains — flat 8%
  • Loss carry-forward — extended

Why Cyprus still works — especially for higher-risk / regulated models:

  • Clear, EU-aligned regulation
  • Very high compliance standards banks and counterparties respect
  • Transparent business activity and substance narrative
  • Strong international recognition as a credible cross-border base

For holdings, operating companies, and fintech, the question isn’t “leave Cyprus or stay.” It’s which model still fits in 2026: operating company, holding, licensed business — or a split structure with another jurisdiction.
